Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said during a radio interview that he is working towards finding a solution to end the split between Hamas and Fatah.
According to Abbas, Fatah offered Hamas an opportunity to sign a deal including the establishment of a unity government comprised of Hamas and other Palestinian Arab factions. Hamas was also offered the opportunity to take part in elections to select a Palestinian President and legislative council head within three months.
