Turkish professor on trial for insulting Erdogan

A Turkish professor of philosophy is accused of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and will be taken to court next week. The professor, Orsan Oymen, wrote an article accusing Erdogan of corruption and violating the constitution.

Oymen claims that he was not giving insult, but that Erdogan is "unable to distinguish strong criticism from an insult."

He is the latest of hundreds who are now being prosecuted for insulting the president. Other suspects include journalists, celebrities, and even teenage students.
