Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) has announced that an agreement was reached with Egged, according to which Egged employees will receive 39 shekels ($9.80 US) per hour.
The raise prevented a strike that was planned for today (Monday) and is part of a project aimed at increasing the salaries of all drivers in public transportation.
"I am convinced that this step will be a significant contribution to strengthening the status of drivers and to improving the public transportation system. I hope that other branches in the market will act similarly," said Katz.
