US Vice President Joe Biden and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently met in Istanbul and discussed ways to strengthen the two countries' cooperation in the fight against ISIS.
A statement from the White House claimed that the two also spoke about "the importance of de-escalating recent tensions between Turkey and Iraq in a manner that respects Iraqi sovereignty."
Turkey recently deployed troops to Iraq, claiming that they were to train local forces, though the Iraqi government continually insisted that the Turkish soldiers be removed.
