The US military has acknowledged that it killed civilians in its airstrikes on ISIS targets in Syria and Iraq. According to officials, two civilians were killed and four wounded in July.

Last week, US Central Command reported that eight civilians were killed between April and July.

"It's tragic, and it's not something that we want to do. One of the burdens of command is to weigh the military value of a target, versus the potential for civilian loss of life," said a spokesperson. He added that the renewed effort against the terror group means that more civilian casualties can be expected.
