President Reuven Rivlin spoke on Tuesday at a festive Knesset debate in honor of the Knesset’s 67th anniversary, and responded to splits within the Israeli society.
“Four years ago, I sat here during a festive Tu B’Shvat Knesset meeting, and I called to members of the Knesset to remember the House’s unfulfilled goal, a pressing need to legislate. That’s what I said then. Today, I do not want to reiterate that call,” Rivlin said, adding that he feels that “The Israeli society and Israel’s Knesset… is simply not ready to do so.”
