Armed militants from the terrorist group al-Shabaab have taken over an African Union military base in southern Somalia.
Reuters reports that the terrorists set off a car bomb at the entrance to the Ceel Cado base in order to open the gate. There is no confirmation about the soldiers inside, though al-Shabaab claims to have killed at least some of them.
Ceel Cado is located about 550 kilometers from the capital of Somalia.
