Rabbi Haim Druckman, chairman of the Bnei Akiva yeshivot and head of Yeshivat Or Etzion, on Monday evening criticized the decision by IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot to remove the Jewish Consciousness department from the IDF Rabbinate, and move it to the personnel directorate.

"I am very sorry that the chief of staff, whom I appreciate very much, treated the Jewish Consciousness department according to the dictates of a newspaper that is angered by anything having to do with Judaism, otherwise it is not at all understandable why the Jewish Consciousness department had to be removed from the IDF Rabbinate," Rabbi Druckman said, in a reference to the Haaretz newspaper.

Rabbi Druckman stated that the move “causes harm to the IDF Rabbinate and even more to IDF soldiers. We must truly regret this decision and there is room to leave the situation as it was."
