The Turkish Foreign Ministry has summoned the Iranian ambassador to demand that Iranian cease reporting a connection between the Saudi execution of a Shi'ite cleric and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Riyadh last week.
"We strongly condemn the linking of our president's recent visit to Saudi Arabia to the executions sentenced in the country in stories published on media outlets linked to Iranian official bodies," read an official Turkish statement.
