Sport and Culture Minister Miri Regev (Likud) has come to an agreement with Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) on the creation of a new police unit to combat sports-related violence.
The unit will be funded by money from the lottery.
Many public figures have been demanding that the government take actions about the growing number of fights and other incidents of violence by sports fans, particularly soccer enthusiasts.
