During a Knesset plenum debate in honor of the 40th anniversary of President Herzog’s UN speech against the comparison of Zionism to racism, his son, Opposition leader Yitzhak Herzog said that “We must fight terror with force and without compromise, but we must not allow terror to change our ways, nor can we allow murderers to change our identity, our principles, the face of the Jewish and democratic Israel and the founding principles of Zionism that Chaim Herzog defended with such historical strength.”

“Even today, 40 years since that speech, the State of Israel, the national home of the Jewish nation, is fighting for its existence and is position in the family of nations. Even today, our enemies keep trying to vilify the justness of our existence and attack our natural and historical right to self-definition,” Herzog added.
