The Knesset approved on Monday night the first reading of an amendment to the Second Authority for Television and Radio Law, concerning the splitting of a radio broadcasting license.

The law proposes to authorize the Board of the Second Authority for Television and Radio to permit a radio station to split its broadcasts, i.e. transmit more content, during certain times of the day on an additional frequency, if it finds that there is a need for the extra content for certain populations in a particular area.
