Starting today (Friday) public transportation will follow the new fare system, which involves a combination of all the forms of transportation within a metropolitan region. It is aimed at saving most travelers hundreds of shekels per month.

This is the largest public transportation fare reform Israel has ever enacted.

Riders with Rav-Kavs can pay once to travel on a bus, light rail, and train in order to reach their destination.

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) says that the new system will increase the attractiveness of public transportation and make travelers prefer it over private vehicles.
