Hamas security forces in Gaza have banned local hotels and restaurants from holding parties and festivities on the civil New Year’s Eve.
According to Hamas, it is not appropriate to hold festivities during an intifada, and there is no link between the ban and the fact that it is a Christian-based holiday.
