The Knesset Assembly has given preliminary approval for an amendment to the Consumer Protection Law. The amendment would require telephone services with an automated answering system to allow callers to speak with a human from the first menu.

MK Eitan Cabel (Zionist Union) says that "This is a phenomenon familiar to each and every one of us, when you call and are sent through an agonizing course. When you ask to buy a product they immediately answer you and they always know how to respond, but a second after you enter the purchasing process, good luck finding your friends. It's time to do something about this. The consumer's time is not cheaper than the business's time.
