The North African branch of al-Qaeda has announced that one of its leaders was killed near Tizi Ouzou, in eastern Algeria.
The leader, Abu al-Hassan Rahid al-Bula'idi, died while fighting the Algerian military on Friday. Al-Qaeda says that his death occurred "as a result of the heathens' ambush."
