The Rabbinical Committee for Communication Affairs is insisting that inspectors do checks on phone stores in haredi neighborhoods to make certain that they only sell phones without cameras or the ability to use the internet.
The inspectors would be run by the Eda Haredit haredi organization.
Posters have been placed in haredi neighborhoods, warning of the supposed dangers inherent in cameras and data plans. The ads read: "Yeshiva students are seen visiting impure and detestable stores on Bnei Brak's Jabotinsky Street and in the Davidka Square in Jerusalem, buying devices without any supervision and protection"
