Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon responded to rightwing protests against the Shin Bet (ISA, Israel Security Agency), in light of claims of abuse and torture of the detainees suspected of committing the Duma massacre.
“Whoever supports those who attack the Shin Bet and its servants, spreads lies and incites the public against the security system… I have full faith and am giving my full support to Shin Bet head Yoram Cohen and to the organization’s members in light of the despicable attacks they have experienced in the past few days. The members of the Shin Bet are acting on behalf of the nation of Israel and are working around the clock to ensure the safety of the citizens of Israel against Palestinian Arab terror, with significant success. They are also working to prevent Jewish terror groups from acting against Palestinian Arabs and others, in a manner that will deteriorate Israel’s security situation.”
