Slovenia held a national referendum on whether it should legalize gay marriage today (Sunday).
Though some votes still remain to be counted, it appears that the primarily-Catholic country has voted down the option. Slovenia will not be the first former Communist state in the EU to permit gay marriage.
The referendum had a very low turnout. By three hours before voting ended, only 25 percent of the population had made it to polling centers.
