Once Silvan Shalom's resignation comes into effect, he will be replaced in the Knesset by Amir Ohana. Ohana will thus be the first openly-gay MK from the Likud.
There have been two other gay MKs. Uzi Even (Meretz) entered the Knesset in 2002, while Nitzan Horowitz (Meretz) began his service in 2009.
