Police in Istanbul used tear gas and water cannons against protesters demanding an end to curfews. The curfews primarily target southeastern Turkey, which is home to most of the country's Kurdish population.

Associated Press reports that protesters, as well as tourists who have been caught up in the incidents, are using improvised treatments against the tear gas. Teenagers are also reportedly throwing rocks at police in Istanbul's Kurdish neighborhoods.

Riot police and helicopters continue to chase after demonstrators.
