One prisoner who had been convicted in a gang-rape on an Indian bus three years ago has already been released from his youth correctional facility.
A police spokesperson told AFP that "The convict was handed over to an NGO. He is no longer under the jurisdiction of the police." Another police source noted, "He has been given a new identity and his criminal record has been expunged."
The victim died as a result of the attack.
