The Ministerial Committee for Legislation has approved MK Mickey Zohar's (Likud) "Weekly day of rest" bill. The bill, which would ban businesses from opening on Shabbat, will be brought to the Knesset assembly for an initial reading.
MK Zohar says, "We are talking about an impressive and historic achievement for the State of Israel that assists the public and any who are interested in resting and spending time with their family on the State of Israel's weekly day of rest, Shabbat. I intend to meet with relevant officials, business owners, various organizations, and all those who fear the law would hurt them, in order to bring forth a bill that is fitting and reasonable for the entire public."
