The African Union (AU) has given its approval, in principal, to sending military forces to Burundi. Yesterday (Thursday), the AU declared that it would "not allow another genocide to take place on its soil."

Eighty-seven people were killed in the capital of Bujumbura last Friday. Police were blamed for many of the deaths, including what witnesses described as "executions."

The violence has been raging since April, when President Pierre Nkurunziza declared that he will run for a third term.
