Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad will visit Iran next month, Iranian media reported Thursday.
According to the reports, Assad will arrive in Tehran in mid-January, and meet with local officials to "deal with the crisis in Syria and with setting a date for presidential elections." If the visit does take place, it would be only the second time that Assad will have left Syria since the country's civil war began in 2011.
