Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein on Thursday evening ruled that Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev will not be allowed to interfere in the content broadcast on Army Radio and its sister station, Galgalatz.
The legal opinion sent by the Deputy Attorney General Dina Zilber, stated that "the role of determining the content on the station is in the hands of professional bodies and there is no room for interference of political factors in the preparation of these contents - and certainly there is no place for the intervention of the Minister of Culture who has no powers in relation to this station."
However, the legal opinion stated that Regev has the right to protest publicly about the conduct of the military radio station. "As far as public statements and review of the content on the station and its activities - those are integral to the existence of a legitimate public discourse and are permitted, so there is no place for a legal position on them."
