A senior Russian official is arguing that Turkey should pay for the Russian fighter jet it shot down last month.
Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov told a state news agency that Moscow is still waiting for Ankara to apologize, pay compensation, and promise that it will never again do such an act.
Turkey has rejected the demand and instead claims it is Russia's responsibility to ensure that there are no future confrontations. "If [Russia] guarantees that there won't be a violation of Turkish airspace, a similar incident won't happen again," a spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said.
