The Histadrut labor federation declared a general strike of the public sector as of next week, in light of failed talks with the Finance Ministry to raise the salaries of the sector’s employees.
“I prefer to avoid strikes. It is a tool and not a goal in my eyes, but we need to finish up with this deal this month and if there is no solution, we will need to launch a strike next week,” Histadrut Chairman Avi Nissenkorn said.
