The Environmental Protection Ministry has announced that the Ashdod Port will be fined 2,689,130 shekels ($697,343 US) for polluting the water with sulfur.
An environmental protection inspector visited the site in July and found a large sulfur stain that spread from a ship docked in the harbor and ran towards the fish cages.
The inspector also found that the port team unloaded the ship's cargo in an improper manner that violated the Environmental Protection Ministry's instructions.
