MK Itzik Shmuli's (Zionist Union) amendment to the Animal Protection Law passed its second and third reading in the Knesset on Monday, mandating the prison sentence for animal abuses be raised from three years to four.
"This is a big and significant step in expanding the protection of animals," Shmuli said. "The next goal - promoting administrative responsibility in corporations against animal abuses in factories and slaughter houses."
