Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon (Kulanu) has presented the guidelines for increasing welfare payments to the elderly. According to the data, elderly couples will receive an additional 6,000 shekels ($1,560 US) per year, beginning next month.
"We are talking about an additional step in the the government's war on poverty," Kahlon said at a government meeting. "We won't help those who can work, but rather only those who have no earning potential."
