The US-led coalition against ISIS says that it killed about 350 fighters in the Iraqi city of Ramadi over the past week. According to a spokesperson for the US military, this represents up to half of the ISIS force defending the city.

There is no information about civilian casualties or measures taken to avoid harming non-combatants.

Colonel Steve Warren says that ISIS conquered Ramadi in May and filled it with 600 to 1,000 of its fighters. Despite the airstrikes' success, Col. Warren was unwilling to say how long it will take to conquer the city.

In an unrelated briefing, Defense Secretary Ash Carter referred to the Iraqi efforts to retake Ramadi as "disappointingly slow."
