The United Nations has admonished Israel for engaging in trade with North Korea, in violating of an international sanction from 2006.
The sanction specifically targets luxury goods. Ynet reports that Israel has been trading several products with the dictatorship, including about $400,000 worth of gold.
Israel Tax Authority's head of exportation affairs, David Khouri has acknowledged the sales: "Unfortunately, there have been exports of gold and sadly they were exposed and we had to give explanations." He added that "There has been almost no exporting of gold to North Korea since 2011, and our exports only included books and dental implants."
