Three firefighting teams on Monday evening put out a fire that broke out in an apartment in the Kiryat Menachem neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames, preventing severe damage to the building. A resident of the apartment was evacuated and treated by medical personnel before being taken to hospital.

An initial investigation revealed that the fire started after a hanukiyyah was negligently placed on a fax machine near a window with a curtain. At one point the hanukiyyah fell on the curtain, causing the fire.
