Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu says that Turkey will not be "brought to its knees" by the new Russian economic sanctions.
Prime Minister Davutoglu made his remark during a speech in Azerbaijan in which he continued to defend shooting down a Russian fighter jet. He claimed that Turkey did not know the plane's origin but that it was inside of Turkish airspace at the time.
In a first, though, Davutoglu claimed that the order was given because Turkey had a "moral" responsibility to prevent the plane from flying through Turkish territory in order to attack an area of Syria with a large ethnic Turkish population.
