The Israel Democracy Institute responded on Wednesday to the gag order barring the publication of details on a security case mentioned by the media in recent days. The Institute said that the current scandal raises questions about conduct surrounding gag orders.
A spokesperson for the Institute further explained that gag orders cannot be issued, according to the law, for security reasons, but rather in cases where publication will harm an ongoing investigation. “Suspicions indicate that the system is attempting to protect itself from exposing a failure,” she added.
