An secret Iranian court has sentenced Washington Post journalist Jason Rezaian to prison for the crime of espionage.
Rezaian's lawyer told Associated Press that she is not surprised by the verdict, but that she has not yet received any information from the court.
Rezaian is a dual citizen of the US and Iran and has been covering the Islamic Republic since 2012. Iran claims that he has been collecting information about local individuals and companies in the hopes of overthrowing the government. Rezaian and the Washington Post strongly deny the accusations.
