Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon (Likud) has commented on the government's decision to outlaw the northern branch of the Islamic Movement.

"The decision to ban the northern branch of the Islamic Movement, and my signature on the order declaring the organization to be an illegal gathering, are additional tools in our war on bodies supporting incitement and terror," said Ya'alon.

He added that "The northern branch of the Islamic Movement endangers the security of the State of Israel and, according to information we've gathered, collaborates with Palestinian terror organizations including Hamas. It aims at inflaming the area and bringing it down to violence. This is a dangerous organization that hides under the cover of religion and undermines the State of Israel's right to exist."
