The Grand Mufti of Australia, Ibrahim Abu Mohammed, has been criticized by government minister for allegedly blaming the recent Paris terror attack on "racism" and "Islamophobia."

Associated Press reports that Mohammed and the Australian National Imams Council released a statement of condolence on Saturday, which claimed that "These recent incidents highlight the fact that current strategies to deal with the threat of terrorism are not working."

It continued: "It is therefore imperative that all causative factors such as racism, Islamophobia, curtailing freedoms through securitization, duplicitous foreign policies and military intervention must be comprehensively addressed."
