    Obama, Putin agree that ceasefire needed in Syria

    US President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, have agreed that there must be a ceasefire in Syria, according to the White House.

    The official statement notes that the two agreed that a political change in Syria requires breathing room to come about, and that the UN should supervise the ceasefire.

    The leaders' talk took place on the sidelines of the G20 conference.
