Itamar Ben Gvir, the attorney for the youth accused of attacking Rabbis for Human Rights head Arik Ascherman, has responded to the charges.

"The prosecution is against serving as the lackey of the extreme Left in Israel," says Ben Gvir. "Even the police, in their first comment to the media, said that Ascherman and his friends were being provocative."

He continued: "We have not found any mention in the charges of Ascherman's actions when he entered property in which he was forbidden and encouraged Arabs to be violent against the residents. In addition, the confession was taken from my client after refusing to allow him to consult a lawyer and therefore is illegal. Due to this, I asked the court to free my client to an alternative to detention."
