The US has announced that it is removing its financial sanctions against Liberia.
President Barack Obama praised the people of Liberia "for their determination, ingenuity and commitment to peace and democracy."
The sanctions were first laid against dictator Charles Taylor in 2003. Taylor has since been arrested and is now in prison for war crimes.
