The United States rejected Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s offer to hold talks on the possibility of recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, “In light of Syria’s collapse as a result of the civil war in the country,” Haaretz reports.
The reports indicate that a senior White House official indicated that America’s stance on the annexation of the Golan Heights to Israel has not changed. The official added that the Israeli proposal may even adversely affect Syrian Opposition groups that the US supports.
