The National League for Democracy announced Monday it had won in Sunday's general election 56 of the 57 parliamentary seats in Myanmar's main city of Yangon. It also won 87 of the 90 seats in the Yangon state legislature.
Headed by opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, the party seems primed for massive sweep in historic presidential elections to be held next year.
