The Knesset's Education, Culture, and Sport Committee has give its approval to a bill calling to increase punishments for violence to animals.
Among other measures, the bill would add a level of severity for any crimes involving intentionally causing severe suffering to an animal. Those convicted could face four years in prison, rather than the previous standard of three.
