Deputy Attorney General Dina Zilber has expressed her strong criticism against modesty signs in Haredi neighborhoods.
Zilber expressed her stance in a letter to government officials declaring that the signs should be removed immediately. She noted that "Enforcement measures can include approaching the landowners on whose property the signs are hung and demanding that they remove the signs, placing those responsible for the signs on trial, and fining them."
She further noted that it is not clear on what authority the signs were originally hung. "There was no instruction or direction from the municipality, but rather the issue was brought to the attorney general and his deputy, who did not act to maintain the rule of law."
