NASA scientists have discovered how Mars turned into a cold, dry, and desert planet.

The organization held a special press conference in Washington to announce that its researchers successfully solved one of the central questions dealing with the red planet. According to their findings, about 100 grams of oxygen and carbon dioxide disappear from the atmosphere of Mars every second due to solar winds. Due to this phenomenon, the atmosphere was eventually eroded and the planet's resources were left defenseless.

Solar winds are rapid streams of charged particles that escape from the Sun.
