Tens of Rabbi Pinto’s students and disciples have launched a hunger strike and gathered on Tuesday outside the rabbi’s yeshiva in Ashdod.
According to the disciples, the hunger strike will continue until their petition to reopen the rabbi’s investigative case is accepted. The students claim that the rabbi was threatened by the prosecution that if he did not admit to the allegations made against him and agree to a plea bargain, his sick wife would be charged and prosecuted.
