MK Ahmad Tibi refused on Tuesday afternoon to respond to the Ethics Committee’s decision to suspend him from managing plenum talks for two weeks, as a result of an incident involving Minister Ze’ev Elkin.

Sources close to Tibi said that “If an Arab MK would turn in such a way to Knesset Speaker Edelstein, he would be harshly penalized. We fear that the political pressure placed upon the committee and the forces who called for Tibi’s dismissal were a deciding factor in this decision.”

“MK Tibi acted according to protocol as Speaker, yet was a victim of incitement. Even a Speaker named Ahmad is Speaker, unless we’re talking about the Ethics Committee, which is a Jewish and undemocratic committee,” sources within the Arab Joint List said.
