2016 defense budget was not approved

The Joint Committee for the Defense Budget headed by MK Tzachi Hanegbi (Likud) held a debate and vote on Tuesday on the 2015-2016 defense budget.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon asked the committee’s members not to approve the 2016 budget, as “The budget does not allow the defense system to act in order to respond as needed. The Prime Minister may have made it clear that the approved budget is not final and will be increased later on, but until that happens, I cannot support the budget.”

A vote was held and the 2015 defense budget was approved; the 2016 budget was not.
